
Service Sector Business Consultation Meeting
On the morning of August 26, 2025, at the Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Service Sector Business Consultation Meeting took place under the chairmanship of Ms. Chanthachone Vongxay, Vice President of the Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Head of the Service Sector Consultation Committee. Attending the meeting were members of the Service Sector Consultation Committee, the Executive Board of the Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LNCCI), representatives of domestic and foreign business associations in the Lao PDR, along with businesses in the fields of education, printing and advertising, medical centers, construction, and the ICT sector. The total number of attending delegates was 41, of which 26 were female.
Summary of the Service Sector Business Consultation Meeting at LNCCI
The main purpose of the meeting was to discuss the opportunities and challenges facing the service sector, identify key issues, and propose new solutions to promote the adjustment of state-issued policies or regulations to provide support and enhance capacity. Concurrently, the meeting reported and updated on the progress of resolving issues raised by the service sector in previous meetings. The meeting also went into deep discussion on several issues: the business expansion of financial institutions, investment licensing, applications for amending business registrations, exchange rates in relation to investment activities, the issue of corporate seals, regulations and fees for advertising billboard permits, the deduction of 1% of revenue from ICT sales invoices for the Telecommunications Development Fund, the shortage of teachers in the education sector, import tax exemptions for educational supplies, and promoting the transition of various licenses applications to an online system, along with a number of other issues.
Following this meeting, the Secretariat of the Lao Business Forum, permanently stationed at the Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, will coordinate with the Service Sector Consultation Committee to summarize the priority issues proposed by the delegates. Simultaneously, they will prepare a petition to be sent to the relevant state departments and agencies for study and preparation for the consultation meeting between the public and business sectors in the next phase.
